Welcome to my practice!
As you look for the therapist that suits you best, you have some questions to ask. I can tell you that I offer my patients a warm and safe space in which to process thoughts and feelings, gain insight into self- defeating patterns and choices, and learn coping skills to navigate difficult emotions and challenging interpersonal exchanges and dynamics.
My Approach:
My general approach is to integrate cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness techniques within a psychodynamic framework. This means I pay careful attention to your present day concerns and possible feelings of distress, and provide ways for you to cope. I do this by teaching rational based thinking, offering healthy behavioral strategies, and providing techniques to keep you grounded in the present. At the same time, I help you increase your insight into how your familial and sociocultural origins have shaped your perceptions, values and conflicts. A particular area of focus will be on self- defeating patterns and defenses and how they may interfere with your goals.
Adopting healthier coping strategies to help you better tolerate uncomfortable emotions and stay more centered takes a little time and patience but can be achieved. Increased self-awareness regarding past unconstructive choices (and a conscious intention to follow a different course) can lead to fulfillment but also requires time and patience. We will work as a team to make these changes happen and bring you closer to your goals.
Lastly, I want to add that I inject a solid dose of pragmatism into my approach. This is a practice which I use for myself and which patients seem to find very helpful.

My Education & Experience:
I received a Masters in Social Work from NYU followed by a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi U. in Long Island, NY. I worked in NYC for almost 20 years in both inpatient and outpatient mental health facilities.
Before I moved to Los Angeles in 2007, I was Director of Mental Health Services at Marymount College in Manhattan. I immensely enjoyed working with students and, to this day, I derive much fulfillment treating a young adult population.
Since my arrival to LA, I have worked at a variety of residential mental health and dual diagnosis settings where I became skilled at incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness into a Psychodynamic framework.
